New Home

In February this year, after 12 years living in East London, and not having the stomach to pay the prices commanded by either the area I lived or the place I grew up, I did what any self-respecting 30 something in Lower Clapton would do, moved to the Kent Coast and bought a reno by the sea.

Where we’re up to, as of today

Here’s a quick low-effort assemblage of photos of a couple of rooms, which more-or-less represent the state throughout the house. Up until a couple of weeks ago, most of the work so far has been done by professional tradesmen, with us coordinating and chipping-in here and there. I’ll be DIY-ing the kitchen and bathroom, I might do a post about it and put some photos up. Depends on if it turns into a hobby or not.

Anyway this is a couple of examples of what has changed..

Kitchen

Walls in the kitchen were saturated leaks and rising damp, caused by lack of drainage between the garden patio and the wall.

Kitchen Before

Work starts on the kitchen floor, with the delapidated rear extension still intact.

We had the leaky rear extension knocked down, centred new french doors, doubled the size of the and a temporary kitchen reusing the carcasses from the old kitchen.

Main Bedroom

Two bedrooms shortly after they'd been knocked through and we had the floors sanded

The bedroom now

Isla is having a great time, with more space than she's ever had, plus she's been outside for the first time in her 7 year life.
